4-Week Roadmap: Build Adaptive Skills & Systems
A step-by-step starter plan to unlearn, relearn, and grow.
Before you start (60 min, once):
Pick one real workflow to improve this month (e.g., client proposal, lesson plan, reporting pack).
Capture a baseline: average time, quality issues, error rate, or stakeholder satisfaction (1–5).
Commit to max 2–3 tools for 30 days. No tool tourism.
Week 1 — Control & Edge
Objective: Get control of AI (prompting) and name your unique edge (personal superpowers).
Steps
Prompting reps (daily 15–20 min)
Take a real task; write 3 versions of the prompt: context → constraints → success criteria.
Iterate once using your own critique.
Personal superpowers (1× 30 min)
List 5 moments you did exceptional work with ease.
Write a 1-sentence “signature move”: “People rely on me because I …”
Tool shortlist (1× 20 min)
Choose 2–3 apps that directly help your chosen workflow. Stop there.
Deliverables
10 prompt iterations saved.
Your signature move sentence.
Tool shortlist (2–3).
Metric(s)
Time saved on Week-1 tasks (vs baseline).
% prompts that produced usable output on first pass.
Relevant parts: 3 (Human superpowers), 4 (Personal superpowers), 5 (AI skills).
Week 2 — Unlearn & Understand
Objective: Clear space and get shared clarity (strategy > tactics).
Steps
Unlearn audit (1× 30 min)
Make a Stop / Keep / Start list for the chosen workflow. Kill busywork AI can handle.
Understand map (1× 45 min)
Create a 1-page concept sheet: goal, users, constraints, definition of “good”.
Prompting with context (daily 10–15 min)
Feed the concept sheet into your prompts; require the model to mirror back goals & constraints.
Deliverables
Stop/Keep/Start list.
1-page concept sheet (approved by you/team).
Metric(s)
items stopped.
Comprehension check pass (AI can restate your constraints accurately).
Relevant parts: 2 (Tactics vs strategy), 6 (Meta-learning / PRISM).
Week 3 — Quick & Deep Learn
Objective: Learn what actually matters — fast, with principles (not surface tricks).
Steps
Micro-curriculum (1× 20 min)
Draft a checklist for the workflow (3–7 steps) and a “why it works” note for each step.
Deliberate practice (3 sessions × 25 min)
Run the workflow end-to-end on a real case. After each, note one improvement.
Edge amplification (1× 20 min)
Use AI to scale your signature move (e.g., clarity maps, options tables, tone coaching).
Deliverables
“How-to + Why-it-works” note.
Improved checklist v2.
One example where AI amplified your signature move.
Metric(s)
Time-to-competence (minutes per run).
Error/redo rate vs baseline.
Relevant parts: 3, 4, 5, 6.
Week 4 — Implement & Optimize & Grow
Objective: Ship something real; measure; compound.
Steps
Pilot (1× 60–90 min)
Deliver a small but real output (proposal, lesson, report) using your v2 checklist + AI.
Feedback & data (1× 20 min)
Collect one metric (e.g., time saved, stakeholder rating) + one qualitative quote.
Optimize & grow (1× 30 min)
Create a Double-down / Fix / Kill log.
Lock in Checklist v3 and schedule the next PRISM cycle.
Deliverables
One shipped pilot.
Log (double-down / fix / kill).
Checklist v3 (final for this loop).
Metric(s)
Time-to-first-value vs baseline.
Lift vs baseline (quality, satisfaction, or error rate).
Iteration cadence (how quickly you improved).
Relevant parts: 6 (PRISM), 8 (Value Architecture Mindset).
Guardrails (so it’s powerful, not overwhelming)
Timebox: ~45–60 min/day, 4–5 days/week.
Scope: One workflow only. One pilot only.
Tools: 2–3 max. If a shiny new app appears, park it for next month.
Language: Every artifact must be 100% understandable to a non-expert. If not, rewrite.
Optional adaptations by audience (keep it tiny)
Kids / Early ed: swap “pilot” for a mini project; measure curiosity (“new questions asked”) and clarity (“teach-back”).
Secondary / University: critique AI-generated drafts; grading focuses on judgment and the why-it-works note.
Mid-career: transform outputs into a competence portfolio entry (before/after + metric).
40s–50s: use AI to package experience (playbooks, training modules).
Educators: turn Checklist v3 into a template other teachers can reuse; measure adoption.
What this roadmap quietly does (tying Parts 1–8 together)
1–2: You stop chasing tools and start thinking strategically.
3–4: You center human + personal superpowers (engine) and actually use them.
5: You build the minimal AI super-skills (steering wheel).
6: You run PRISM once end-to-end.
7: You can now adapt the same loop to any group.
8: You move from tools → Value Architecture (a repeatable system).
